Day 15: Consultate Appointment
Today we applied for Sawyer's visa to enter the United States. It will go into his Chinese passport. When he lands in San Francisco he'll be a United States citizen. Lucky kid. Our guides will pick up his visa tomorrow afternoon and then I'll immediately leave for Hong Kong via van. The day after that, I fly from Hong Kong and San Francisco to Denver. I never thought I'd look so forward to taking such a long flight. It will be good to get home.
I did try to get Sawyer out of this sweatshirt the other day. I put on a zip up sweatshirt instead and he wanted it off immediately. I then offered him this one again and it was the one he wanted. That's why he looks the same in every photo.
The reason I look the same in every photo is that I could only take one piece of luggage for the full 2.5 week trip and it had to have a lot of baby stuff in it. Therefore, I only have two pairs of pants, five shirts, and one sweatshirt. Laundry here is really expensive so I've been washing in the sink.
Since we'll be splitting our group up tomorrow, we took a group photo in the lobby this afternoon. The kids were all dressed up and looked nice. Sawyer liked wearing this outfit.
This is my entire travel group. Ten kids adopted in total. My adoption agency had another group of seven families here at the same time -- but in a separate group because their kids came from a different province in China.
These are our guides Jocelyn (black shirt) and Maggie. After our group photo one parent was supposed to attend a planning meeting for the next day. I have to bring Sawyer since I'm traveling alone (some other parents have to bring their kids too). He was a handful today. I miss most of what is being said but Maggie helps out. It is tougher when we need to fill out paperwork.
Sawyer is always trying to get food from people. He struck out in this meeting today until Max here got up from his stroller. Sawyer jumped in and started eating all his crumbs from his stroller seat. (I have been feeding him plenty). He was such a handful, I just let him eat away.
