Day 6: Meeting Tess - Gotcha Day
We got Tess today! We are Tess's guardians today and tomorrow the adoption will be official. At 2:00 pm we met our guide Jason and went to a nearby office building to meet our children. We were the only family from our adoption agency there but 12 other families from other adoption agencies were getting their children too. The children were either crying or shut down. Tess shut down. She's sad. She took some food from us and even gave a few giggles when I rubbed her tummy on the top of my head, but otherwise she is stoic. We learned that she has never been in a foster home. We hope to go to her orphanage later this week.
Excited to finally get to meet Tess
Tess has big eyes and full lips. Michelle's going to break out some pink clothes so people know she's a girl. She had short hair in the previous photos we got from the orphanage but it is even shorter now.
These are three nannies from Tess's orphanage. The orphanage has three children adopted. The woman in the black was Tess's nanny.
Tess missed her nap today but did not want to be set down in her crib. She is taking to Michelle but is still wide eyed and stoic.
After this late nap we went out to dinner. Tess ate congee and rice and tried pork and pineapple. When she does not want something she turns her head to the side. Besides a few giggles we got earlier in the day, she has not made a peep yet. Michelle gave Tess a bath tonight. She did not want to lose her shoes at nap time or her clothes for the bath. She has some kind of a rash and a little bit of a runny nose, but otherwise seems healthy. We will take her for a medical exam on Wednesday. She is playing with stacking cups from her bath now and seems to have good dexterity. . |
